Logitech mouse does not work due to incorrect setup parameters.
Cause:
Windows 95 Setup must be launched from DOS prompt with specific parameter to accommodate Logitech mouse.
Solution:
Start Windows 95 Setup program with the following command to enable Logitech mouse:
SETUP /IL
To install the Windows 95 Upgrade from CD-ROM:
1) Insert the Windows 95 Upgrade CD-ROM into the CD drive.
2) Select the 'File' menu from the Windows 3.x 'Program Manager' window and select 'Run'. (The 'Run' dialog box appears.)
3) In the 'Command line' box, type:
<drive>:\SETUP /IL
(where <drive> is the letter of the CD drive).
4) Click 'OK'. (The 'Windows 95 Setup' screen appears, followed by the 'Windows 95 Setup' dialog box.)
5) Click the 'Continue' button. (The 'Windows 95 Setup' dialog box displays the system's status, followed by the 'Software License Agreement' dialog box.)
6) Read the license agreement and click the 'Yes' button. (The 'Windows 95 Setup' wizard appears.)
7) Click the 'Next' button. (The 'Windows 95 Setup' wizard displays the 'Choose Directory' options.)
8) If necessary, select the 'C:\Windows' radio button and click 'Next'. (The 'Preparing Directory' dialog box appears, displaying the assessment of available space on the hard drive. Next, the 'Save System Files' dialog box appears, prompting the backup of system files.)
NOTE: It is strongly recommended that all files be backed up before upgrading to Windows 95.
9) (Optional) Select the 'Yes (recommended)' radio button and click 'Next'. (The 'Saving System Files' dialog box appears, follow by the 'Setup Options' dialog box.)
10) (Optional) Select the 'Typical' radio button and click 'Next'. (The 'Product Identification' dialog box appears.)
NOTE: The type of setup selected is usually determined by the amount of available space on the computer's hard drive and by the individual's experience level. If you do not know which type of setup to select, choose 'Typical'.
11) Type the product identification in the 'Product Identification' box and click 'Next'. (The 'User Information' dialog box appears.)
12) (Optional) Type the user's name and company name in the 'Name' and 'Company' boxes respectively.
13) Click 'Next'. (The 'Analyzing Your Computer' dialog box appears.)
14) Click 'Next'. (The 'Analyzing Your Computer' dialog box displays the progress of the system check for installed hardware.)
15) Click 'Next'. (The 'Get Connected' dialog box appears.)
16) Select a check box for the desired communications software and click 'Next'. (The 'Windows Component' dialog box appears.)
17) If necessary, select the 'Install the most common components' radio button.
18) Click 'Next'. (The 'Identification' dialog box appears.)
19) Type the desired name for the computer (and the name of the workgroup, if the computer is connected to a network) in the 'Computer Name' and 'Workgroup' boxes respectively.
20) If desired, enter the description for the computer in the 'Computer Description' box, and click 'Next'. (The 'Startup Disk' dialog box appears.)
21) If necessary, select the 'Yes, I want a startup disk (recommended)' radio button, and click 'Next'. (The 'Start Copying Files' dialog box appears.)
22) Click 'Next'. (The 'Insert Disk' dialog box appears.)
23) Insert a formatted floppy diskette into the floppy disk drive and click 'OK'. (Once the computer finishes copying the Windows 95 backup files onto the floppy diskette, the 'Windows 95 Start Disk Finished' dialog box appears.)
24) Remove the diskette from the floppy disk drive.
25) Click 'OK'. (The 'Preparing to copy files' status bar appears, followed by the 'Copying files...' status bar.)
NOTE: Several more dialog boxes will appear, displaying the benefits of Windows 95. When prompted to keep the most current version of a file, choose the 'Yes' button. The computer will copy files and modify configurations for the Windows 95 operating system. Once the computer finishes copying and modifying files for Windows 95, the 'Windows 95 Setup' dialog box reappears.
26) To restart the computer and update the system configurations, click the 'Finish' button.
